The Sunday Story
The Sunday Studio jewellery (originally P&J Jewellery) is all handcrafted by myself, Olivia, at my home in Cleethorpes. I started making jewellery in 2016 after mental health struggles meant I had to suspend my place at university studying fashion promotion, and was unable to work. I had always been creative and had studied media, photography and textiles at college, so jewellery making felt like a natural progression. I have always looked at things with the view of wanting to know how it’s made, and often challenged myself to make it. This mind set helped me teach myself how to work with silver and ultimately design my own collection of jewellery.
I had fallen in love with jewellery making, so when it came to returning to university to resume studying fashion promotion, I decided to give up my space. I felt that the fashion industry was not for me after the surge in fast fashion – I instead wanted to create sustainable, timeless pieces that will be treasured forever.
I make my jewellery from my studio at home in Cleethorpes with the help of my studio assistant, my dog Mable.
I do not wish for my business to have any negative impact on our environment, therefore all of my jewellery is sustainably made using recycled silver, as well as using only recyclable and bio-degradable packaging. I recycle as much of the studio's waste as possible, and try to keep my plastic pollution as low as possible.
Each piece of jewellery is designed, made, assembled and finished by the same two hands. Quality is incredibly important to me so each piece is made with the upmost care.
I believe in supporting small businesses and independent makers and designers in any way that I can. I encourage everyone to shop small and support your local high street.
My studio/work space is located within my house. This is where your orders are processed, made, finished, and packaged before they're sent to you. It's also where I design new pieces and brain storm future collections. You could say this IS The Sunday Studio..
Furnished with second hand, recycled and sustainably made furniture, the studio represents the ethics and beliefs of The Sunday Studio.
